WEARY MIND, WARY KIND

"WEARY MIND, WARY KIND"

I've heard the door close too many times,
Too many times to count.
Opens for a little short while
Closes too quick like it never opened.

Sometimes it bangs shut
Almost coming off it hinges
Sometimes so quietly,
With only the creaks as prove.

These resounding thuds and creaks,
Got in the way of my peace.
So I kept the door securely locked,
For the sake of my sanity.

I wondered about the fate of the door
Will it stay locked forever?
Will these thuds and creaks continue?
Dare I unlock it again?

Only one way to find out
Unlock the door
Wait, and see its fate unfold.
On a leap of faith, I did.

And here you are,
Standing midway in and out.
You are not coming or going
Are you staying or leaving?

Reaching out but standing back
Offering and holding back
I'm just as excited as confused,
My emotions between forbearing and murderous

What are you waiting for?
Do you need persuasion?
Do you want a fight?
What a nerve!

I've got good fight left in me
But you have to know,
I won't fight a lost battle.
You should fight fair.

I'm not like that,
I won't get up and leave like it's nothing
I give whole, I take whole.
So what is it going to be?
