Like a Flame

"Like a Flame"

Where do I begin?
The long talks,
Ungodly hour chats?
The sweet nothings,
The flirty insults?

A dreamer? Yes.
In my own realm
One of my dreams, perhaps.
But you were real
We happened, or did we?

First the triangle,
Then the square.
Triangle became a square
A wall of impossibility
Came to view
You saw it too?

But the wall of Jericho crumbled
Ours could too
One energy powerful,
Two unstoppable.
You didn't believe, did you?

Star crossed
Saw myself standing alone
You said "what about him?"
I said "what about you?"
About her, I knew nothing.

But I knew,
I saw the impossible.
Yet I kept an eye out
The truth pill,
I refused to swallow.
Waited on the unusual miracle
Could've bowed out,
I slept on myself.

The comet I saw,
I have to unsee.
Your face I need to let fade
Your smiles I must forget
Your touch I won't crave
Your race, my heart will cease to run.

All I wanted to be,
Your peace.
If it brings you peace,
I am at peace.
Stays so, I hope.
No longer will I belong,

Even if I return.
